Habakkuk 2:1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. (KJV)
______________
IN ANCIENT TIMES the watchtower is a place where the watchman is set for security purposes. From that place he looks for the invasion of the enemy and then alerts the city that danger is coming. This will help them to prepare for battle. Our text gives a similar portrait of what the prophet Habakkuk was going to do. He decided to stand his watch inorder for him to be able to secure the mind of God for him. It was a deliberate decision on his part. He stood his watch to know what God will say.
If we are going to secure the mind of God concerning different situations in our lives then we must be willing to stand our watch. God wants to speak to you but are you ready to listen? When the prophet waited on God then the vision was made plain to him.
Keeping our watch is something that you must desire as a Christian who wants to secure the mind of God. It goes with determination, dutiful diligence and devotion. When we secure God’s mind obedience is what should proceed from that exercise.
PRAYER: O LORD help me to always keep my watch so that I will secure your mind concerning my life in Jesus name.
