TOPIC: SUSTAINING PURITY IN A CORRUPT WORLD

IN 2 PETER the apostle Peter is addressing the issue of false prophets and apostates in the church. Our text gives a reminder of the believer was first able to escape the corruption that is in the world. He emphatically outlined that it was through his knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The world is full of impurity and full of contagion of sin and uncleanness. The Christian is only going to escape this pollution as he grows in his knowledge of God.
When we come to know Jesus and continue to grow in him we are empowered through this knowledge to navigate our way in purity though the world is polluted. Such is the power of knowledge. As we grow in grace our level of victory and authority over the works of darkness increases. Earlier also Peter outlines that it is through knowledge of Jesus that we receive all that pertains to life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3).
This means that every believer must contend for deeper levels of knowledge so that he can have his allocation of all that pertains to life and godliness. Do you want to grow in consecration and knowledge? Then press in for a deeper knowledge of God. No wonder Paul the apostle cried with all his experiences, “that I may know Him”. So this that knowledge of God is layered and we need to press for them as God will grant us grace.
PRAYER: O LORD Jesus help me to grow in my knowledge of you so I can become more like you in Jesus name.
