Text: 1 Sam 16:6-7 (MSG) 6 When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Here he is! GOD’s anointed!” 7 But GOD told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; GOD looks into the heart.”
Message:
Samuel was given an assignment by God to anoint for Him a king for the people. He obeyed promptly and he diligently put to work all his human skills. He did not rush to carry out the task, but looked, saw, thought and then concluded. All these skills failed him because God was not in them.
God who knows everyone’s heart intervened and selected the right person, otherwise, Samuel would have put the whole country in trouble by giving them a wrong leader. The heart of man is desperately wicked, only God knows it
Many people are already in deep trouble because they decided to use only their human skills. Many have put their life and family in jeopardy because they decided based on human skills alone.
Beloved, human skills are good (necessary) but they are not sufficient to take a right and unfailing decisions. You may still be wrong despite all your human skills. Prayer: My Lord and my God, help me to cooperate with you in all my decisions in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
