Bride of Christ Devotional
Luke 18:22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing………” (NKJV)

THE RICH young ruler was one that approached Jesus with great eagerness to know what it takes to have eternal life. Jesus outlined the commandments of God to him and he boasted that he has been obedient since his youthful days. Jesus looked at him and discerned the deficiency of this young zealous man. He pointed out what he needs to do and how he should submit himself fully to His leadership. When the man received this his zeal came down and he went away sorrowful because he had great possessions.
Man is known for taking pride in that which seems good to him. He forgets the deficiency in his life and character. One thing that is clear is that Jesus knows what is missing in our lives. This is why we must approach Him with sincerity and willingness to take heed of His instructions. When God through the ministry of the Holy Spirit brings out our deficiencies it is to help us. It is to make us better and bring us into conformity with the image of His Son.
Jesus offered a solution to this man’s shortcomings but because of the deceitfulness of the riches he has acquired he went back. We can only profit from His disclosures of our deficiencies when we respond in prompt and total obedience to God. Remember, he points out our shortcomings to help us, not for condemnation so that we can become more like Him. So whenever He brings them out be obedient.
PRAYER: O LORD JESUS as you point out the deficiencies in my life help me to yield and make the necessary corrections in my life in Jesus name.
