Bride of Christ Devotional, 15th August, 2023
Exodus 1:17, 20 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. (NKJV)

PHARAOH the king of Egypt was full of fear and because of his insecurity he decided to oppress the Israelites and even kill all the male children. He gave this command to the midwives that whenever they see a male child delivery by the Israelites, they should kill them. But the midwives feared God and they did not execute this evil command by the king. And because of their non-conformity to evil the Lord looked on them and God dealt well with them.
The fear of the Lord will help you to be obedient to God in every situation. Pharaoh was a powerful and influential king but the midwives who feared God chose to obey God. They did not allow the terror of the king to make them lower their convictions. They obeyed God. Many people today who are ‘Chrisians’ compromise their faith and convictions in the marketplace so that they can please men.
The midwives when they obeyed God, He dealt well with them. Godly fear and obedience will help you to enter into favour with God. When you stand for God and choose to obey Him in this crooked generation, persecution is sure to come. But remember the blessings and benefits far outweighs the temporal comfort. When you walk in obedience to God He will surely favour you. Choose to be a non-conformist today and enjoy God’s favour.
PRAYER: O LORD as I obey you and walk in godly fear help me to enjoy your favour in Jesus name.
