Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. (NKJV)
_______________
DAVID the Psalmist understood the power of consistency in prayers. In our text he cried to God that his prayers be set forth as incense. Incense in the Old Testament was kept burning continually before the Lord and offerings were made morning and evening. Both are symbols of prayer. This is what the David was describing here. That in his prayer enterprise he will be consistent with God.
One of the areas that we draw strength from in our communion with the Father of all spirits is in prayer. Jesus Christ also taught that men ought always to pray and not to faint. Paul the apostle always enjoined the Ephesian church to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. When you are able to build a consistent prayer life it empowers you to hear from God and live above sin.
Spending long hours in prayer is good but consistency is even better. Because as you become consistent in staying at the altar daily your duration also increases. So as you begin your prayer enterprise seek consistency over duration first. When that falls in place then you will have the stamina to go on for hours communing with God.
PRAYER: O LORD help me to be consistent in prayer and to always fulfill my daily prayer commitments in Jesus name.
