Deuteronomy 29:19 When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself and therefore thinks, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way.” This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry. (NIV)

PRESUMPTION is an assumption that is taken for granted. It is an audacious (arrogant) behaviour that you have no right to but still insist on doing it. Our text outlines that when one hears the curse of disobedience but blesses himself and say that peace will stay with him despite the evil imagination of their hearts. This is presumption. This man deliberately expects to have peace after he walks in the imagination of his own heart.
This man deliberately despises the word of God by giving heed to his lustful desires lurking within him. The confession shows that the man intentionally chose to sin and the Lord will not spare such people. This presumptuous sinning is the kind that despises the word of God and put Christ to open shame.
When you chose to walk presumptuously and disobey God you will face the consequences. Do you know that everytime you deliberately choose to sin and expect a peaceful outcome, you are acting presumptuously? Do not take God’s instruction for granted. It is only by obedience that we will live a life that pleases God.
PRAYER: O LORD deliver me from acting taking your word for granted and gave me grace to obey it completely in Jesus name.
