Ezra 9:4 Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel assembled to me, because of the transgression of those who had been carried away captive, and I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice. (NKJV)

EZRA the priest was putting together the families of the priests and Levites. He then discovered that most of them had disobeyed the word of God by marrying people who were Gentiles. They had violated the word of God and the people who regarded the word of God came together to bring repentance before God. Those who tremble at the word of God are people who recognize that they have disobeyed God’s word and they are willing to repent and make peace with God.
The purpose of the word of God is to help God’s people live in alignment with the will of God. Whenever we transgress or disobey the instructions of God, we must admit our wrongs and then ask God for mercy. This was what Ezra and those who have regard for God’s word did. No sooner they realized that, oh our brethren have done evil they were surprised and they asked the Lord for mercy.
Have you sinned? Have you gone away from God’s word? Repent. Repent. Tremble at His word and make your life right with God. A man who trembles at the word of God will hasten to repent and make his life right.
PRAYER: O LORD help me always to tremble at your word always in Jesus name.
