DIVINE RESPONSE TO SELF-ABASEMENT

Bride of Christ Devotional, 14th November, 2023

2 Chronicles 12:7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. (KJV)

SELF-ABASEMENT is a voluntarily humiliation of oneself. It is an of behaving in way that makes you seem lower than your real self. Rehoboam was rebuked by a prophet sent by God because he has abandoned the law of the Lord and all Israel with him. Because of this God wanted to hand him over to an heathen king for destruction. Immediately he received the message he humbled himself and God saw it and he changed his mind towards him.

Humility is one of the virtues that attracts God’s attention and makes Him favourable towards you. Destruction was imminent on this king but he humbled himself and God saw it and granted them deliverance. Ahab, a wicked king was spared and the judgment postponed because of meekness and humility. Hezekiah did the same thing and the anger of God was taken away from him. Manasseh, a wicked king also humbled himself and God changed his life.

God sees humility. He knows your heart posture everytime. How far have you gone? If you can humble yourself today and return to God he will spare you. Don’t wait until God humbles you. Humble yourself now. If you have sinned forgiveness is certain and if you are down His mighty hands will lift you up.

PRAYER: O LORD help me to humble myself today and turn the situation of my life around in Jesus name.
