Bride of Christ Devotional, 13th November, 2023
2 Chronicles 13.12 And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper. (KJV)

ABIJAH KING OF JUDAH and Jeroboam king of Israel were about to go into a fierce battle. Abijah had 4000 valiant men whilst Jeroboam had 8000 men. Numerically the king of Israel had the upper hand. But one thing gave Judah a unique advantage; together with their armed men they had divine backing. God was with them. Whilst Jeroboam abandoned God for idols Judah was still living under the government of God which eventually caused them to be victorious.
Divine presence and backing is a unique advantage that every child of God should have. This is appropriated by living a life of obedience and submission to God. When this becomes a reality in your life, you will not be afraid of the powers of Satan that will come against you. Are you living in obedience to God or in secret sin?
Abijah reminded Jeroboam that the source of his advantage was not in his military might but in the assurance of God’s abiding presence. He advised them not to engage them in battle because they will surely loose and that was the outcome (v15_17). So in all thy getting, get divine backing in every of your engagements. When you do, you will definitely overcome.
PRAYER: O LORD may I never loose the sense of your abiding presence. Help me not to rely on the arm of flesh in Jesus name.
