Bride of Christ Devotional, 12th October, 2023

1 Samuel 9:6 And he said to him, “Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go.” (NKJV)
______________

SAUL was in search of his father’s asses and was almost stranded. He decided to give up and return home but his servant recommended that they see a man of God for further clarity. The description of the man of God reveals his peculiar identity. Even the ordinary people in the city recognized this about him. The description reveals his calling, character and consistency in his prophetic ministry.

The first thing that this man said about the prophet Samuel was that he was a man of God. His calling was conspicuous among the people with whom he dwelt. Samuel lived in such a way that those around knew that he belongs to God. Your life as a Christian and more so as a minister of the gospel must be clear to all that you belong to Jesus.

Another thing that was mentioned was his character. He was an honorable man. Remember if any man wants to be an elder he desires a honorable task. His character was in line with his calling. He lived an honorable life amongst the people and they knew him for that.

Finally the utterances of his ministry came into the limelight. He is described as a man whose words always comes to pass. This highlights the consistency of his prophetic ministry. He was faithful in giving the true words of God. His ministry was consistently proclaiming God’s mind to the people.

This peculiar identity must be in every minister of God. His calling must be from God his character must be honorable and the word of God in your mouth must be consistently be aligned with God’s word. Are you a minister of this peculiar identity?

PRAYER: O LORD help me to be consistent in my calling and character to the glory of your name in Jesus name.
