Leviticus 21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. (KJV)

PRIESTHOOD is the exercise of priestly duties in service to God. It is the act of interfacing with God on your behalf and for others. Aaron and his sons were selected by God to exercise priesthood on behalf of Israel. This is a glorious privilege because no man takes this honour to himself except he be be called by God. Our text outlines that a man who has a blemish cannot perform this duty. So the non-negotiable requirement for priesthood is purity.
Even though the sons of Aaron belong to the priestly family and lineage, if they have a blemish it exempts them from service. They can eat and enjoy the privileges of priesthood but the Lord says when it comes to offering the bread of his God, they are not allowed. God is specific about the vessel he receives service from.
In 2 Timothy 2:19 we see that those that name the name of the Lord must depart from iniquity. If you are going to be a usable vessel in the hands of God purity is non-negotiable. It is a must. Your life must be free from every blemish. The blemish in your personality is an impediment to approaching His altar. Make your life right today so that your service will not be in vain.
PRAYER: O LORD cleanse me of every blemish and help me to serve you in purity so that my service will be acceptable in Jesus name.
