Bride of Christ Devotional, 4th September, 2023
Matthew 8:8,9 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof……… For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, “Go,’ and he goes; and to another, “Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, “Do this,’ and he does it.” (NKJV)

THE CENTURION came to Jesus with a genuine and urgent sense of need for the healing of his servant. Jesus Christ opted to go willingly to His house to heal him. The man now demonstrated great faith and humility. Though he was a noble man under authority and having soldiers under his control, he was still willing to submit to Jesus.
This commanding officer submitted his authority to Jesus. No matter our heights in our different spheres of endeavors we must be willing to submit whatever we have received to the Lord. This reveals that He is truly the Master of our lives. Our skills, talents, and abilities are all subject to be brought in subjection to the Lord.
This should be done intentionally and with a strong sense of humility. It was the centurion himself who realized and recognized that he was not worthy to have the Lord come to his house. He realized that though he had authority he will submissively give himself to the one who is Lord of all. What is the authority that you carry now? Will you willingly submit to Jesus? Will you like the centurion hand over it to Him so the the purposes of God will be birthed in you? Selah!
PRAYER: O LORD today I set aside my authority so that I can submit to you in humility. Do with me as you please in Jesus name.
