TEXT:2 Kings 12:7 (MSG) King Joash called Jehoiada the priest and the company of priests and said, “Why haven’t you renovated this sorry-looking Temple? You are forbidden to take any more money for Temple repairs—from now on, hand over everything you get.”

The neglected condition of the temple (physical building) by the priests for 23 years shows how far the people of God had strayed away from God. This can be the amazing picture of your spiritual life. Your life might be “the sorry-looking temple” that needs urgent attention. You need a repair or a renovation because of the damages done to your life by sin, Satan and the sinful nature. The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches have creeped, choked and suffocated the word of God (that you have been receiving constantly) and it has become fruitless, leaving your spiritual life in a dilapidated state.
As the temple of God your life should be a holy place, set apart for the worship of God and His exclusive habitation. It should be a house of prayer and not a den of thieves.
