Death died today …
And how sweet was the sound of hell’s mourning cry.
They had controlled us,
Subjugated us,
Since the day they tricked us out of Eden.
We mourned and groaned,
We did — and all creation with us
Waiting in painful expectation for our salvation.
And He came.
He came, and we almost didn’t see Him.
We hailed Him, not knowing it was Him.
Hell laughed when He went to the cross—
And to be honest, our hearts broke.
Death had won again, we thought.
Our hope died a painful death.
And we mourned.
But we didn’t know what we’d soon be told:
He took the battle to the devil’s throne.
He waged war on their home front.
And He won.
I went to pay my tributes,
And before my eyes, I saw the tomb crack open.
My soul leapt—
And I forgot how to breathe.
O death, where now is your sting?
Hell, where now is your victory?
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:15 (NIV)
HAPPY EASTER! May the victory from sin and Satan that Christ won on our behalf be enforced in our lives. Amen
