Bride of Christ Devotional for Sunday, 7th January, 2024
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
TOPIC:
CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
TEXTS: Genesis 25:34 (NLT) Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate and drank and went on about his business, indifferent to the fact that he had given up his birthright.
Hebrews 12:17 (NLT) And afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he wept bitter tears.

PREACH
The life of Esau was filled with choices he must have regretted bitterly. He appears to have been a person who found it hard to consider consequences, reacting to the need of the moment without realizing what he was giving up to meet that need.
If we are not consciously living for God, we can fall into the same trap of satisfying our immediate desires without pausing to consider the long-term consequences. What are you willing to trade for the things you want? Are you willing to trade your integrity, body, spirit, or soul for what you feel you need now?
Esau’s story shows us that mistakes and sins sometimes have lasting consequences. Even repentance and forgiveness do not always eliminate sin’s consequences.
Beloved, evaluate the long-term effects of your decisions and actions. Consequences are important to consider. Always compare the short-term satisfaction with its long-term consequences before you act.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
PRAYER
O Lord my God deliver me from taking or making wrong decisions concerning every area of my life.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
PONDER
Always compare the short-term satisfaction with its long-term consequences before you act.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
PRACTICAL
